Meet The Team: Cat the Copywriter and Operations Manager

Time to meet another one of our sterling team members! This time we’re introducing Catherine (affectionately called Cat by her friends, family and of course colleagues). She’s the queen of organisation and runs her life (and business) with plenty of lists, labels and planning journals to keep everything running smoothly. With a Bachelor of Journalism, it’s no surprise her forte is in copywriting, magazine work and social media planning and strategy. Cat’s an all-rounder in the LYF Solutions team. She joined ranks with us in 2017, the same year she launched her own business, Content Savvy. Aside from working for us, she’s also an editor, copywriter and proud dog mum.

What Cat did before LYF Solutions:

Before starting her own business and joining the LYF team, Cat worked as a journalist and editor for various industry magazines at Universal Magazines. Her experience before joining the team included working with titles in the wellness, wedding and home sectors so her work and writing style has always been adaptive and diverse! She then went on to work as a marketing assistant in the technology field, refining her skills in digital marketing and social media management.

Since then, she’s returned to the newly-named Universal Media Co. while she’s also still working with us – Cat is always booked and busy! She is currently freelancing as an editor and writer for numerous home magazines and is a passionate advocate for mental health and anxiety awareness.

How Cat joined and what she does at LYF Solutions:

Cat and Ray had actually known each other since high school and had always stayed in touch. In fact, Ray was her techy friend who’d helped her build her websites and before long the LYF Solutions and Content Savvy partnership was formed. She originally worked as a copywriter with us but her role has since expanded to LYF’s operations manager and Instagram specialist.

She helps out across the board with administrative duties, social strategy, client workshop brainstorming and ad hoc copywriting. Those super organisational skills are very much appreciated in our team!

Bonus fun facts about Cat:

Cat knew she wanted to be a writer from the age of 12. She even got to meet Zac Efron during her time as a work experience student at The Herald & Weekly Times in 2009!

Cat’s biggest loves are her husband, her cheeky chihuahua Lyra and her family and friends. Honourable mention for sauvignon blanc, words, Instagram, Netflix and home styling.

Her biggest pet peeves are mashed potatoes, when people don’t know the difference between, ‘they’re, their, and there,’ or when they say ‘expecially’ instead of ‘especially.’

Cat’s top sustainability tips and swaps:

Lately I’m really into reusable water bottles. Not only are they healthier for you – plastic is poison – but they’re much better for the environment! I also stumbled across this really cute Aussie small business that does water bottle bags which is so convenient for when you’re on the run!

Another sustainability swap is keeping my business website on a carbon neutral server – it gives me everything I need all while helping to make Australia greener and reducing my impact!
